Pillement Islands is named for the artist Jean-Baptiste Pillement, who pioneered the chinoiserie movement in Europe in the 18th century. The design combines classic oriental motifs with contemporary characters including hipsters and tourists with selfie sticks. The pattern consists of small ‘islands’ of decoration that are printed onto a tactile cork substrate.
