Additional info
Highly technical hand-print.
The design is based on 18th century textiles called 'Aborescents', which were influenced by Eastern stories of trees covered in flowers that were supposed to grow there (similar to when Durer drew a rhino based on stories of how rhinos looked).
The design has a very traditional feel, so circles are printed under and over the Tree drawing giving the fabric a feel of contemporary and traditional mising together. The circles also mimick the concentric circles of a tree trunk.
The method of printing is very 'hand printed', using techniques that most printers tend to avoid, techniques that are very hard to control make the fabric 'uneven', and gives a feeling of uniqueness. The colours are bled together and mixed on the screen so that there is a slow bleed of colour running vertically up the fabric.
